Estonian Christopher Kalk missed the first minute of his heat, because he took a little nap at the beach. Nevertheless he passed over Greek Tasos Galanis in a close heat. The big surprise came in Kalk`s next heat, round 2 of the single elimination. The Estonian had an awesome heat and kicked out French Nicolas Akgazciyan.
Andraz Zan faced tourleader Steven van Broeckhoven and Yarden Meir fought against Andre Paskowski in the semi finals of the single elimination. In the middle of the semi-finals the organised Heli showed up and brought extra action in the heat area. The heli was flying superclose to the beachside. Yarden Meir and Andraz Zan ended up in the small final and Andre fought against Steven for the victoy in the first single elimination.
The current tourleader Steven from Belgium could even improve his performance in the final heat showing a perfect Culo and a Burner. Speaker Roberto Hofmann announced Steven van Broeckhoven as the winner of the Single elimination on thursday morning.
Double Elimination:
After the single elimination and a one hour lunch break the double elimination got started. Nicolas Akgazciyan was ambitious to correct his bad result in the morning and could win 2 more heats. The French, who was a favourite for the spectators finished on the 7th place in the Double.
Young Belgium rider Dieter van der Eyken was pushing himself to a new level of freestyle windsurfing, fighting his way through the double elimination with a sliding oriented newschool style. One of the highlights today was his heat against Christopher Kalk: both guys just 17 years old, showed their best freestyle windsurfing and made the decision for the judges not easy. In the end Dieter van der Eyken passed over Kalk, but got finally stopped by the routine of German rider Andre Paskowski. But he proofed his great talent and finished the double in the great 3rd position.
So everything was up for heat Nr. 35, the final heat of the day between current tourleader and winner of the single elimination Steven van Broeckhoven and Andre Paskowski. They both started their heat chasing each other through the upwind part of the heat area. Both had to pump hard because of the light wind. Race director Tom Hartmann and the judges decide to cancel this final. The wind was not strong enough. The race crew decided to wait for 15 minutes and to restart the heat. But the second try was even worse. At around 18.00h the double elimination was postponed to Friday morning.
