Question for Finian Maynard

Postby Marko » Tue Apr 06, 2010 10:00 am

Hi Finian,

I am the happy owner of new Vapor Technora 7.6 2010.
I used this sail in 12-25 knots and it was out of this world. Sail is AMAZING!!!

I have vapor 5.5/6.7/8.2 from 2008 and I have the feeling that I can replace those 3 sails only with this new 7.6 and 6.0 and add one more lightwind sail (8.2 was sometimes to small).

As we are allowed to register only 3 sails per event in our championship, I am thinking to go 6.0-7.6-8.4 or 9.3.

What can I expect from new 6.0? Is it as good as new 7.6?

Do you think that new 6.0 would be equal in strong wind control to 5.5 2008 or maybe even better? Is new 6.0 the same concept/design objective as new 7.6? My 7.6 (rigged on mauisails mast) is very flat and with very little freeleech. I really like it that way because it is so responsive and great for pumping, it accelerates like hell, and I find it very easy in extremely wide range. I would like to have 6.0 just like this :)

Best regards
Marko

Hey Marko,

As I answered in my email to you, the 6.0 is a great sail. I finally got out on it and it was a smoker!! What a great sail. Easy to use and in control. I think it has more control than you would think.

For the 94 it will be a great sail.

Hello Marko. I agree with Kevin, the 2010 6.0 has a lot of range. The 8.4 has enough juice for light wind although the 9.3 is probably better for the superlight conditions that can happen many times during national races.. You could go 6, 7.6 and 9.3 as the 3 sail combo if you are only allowed 3 sails for all winds.

Good winds, Finian
