Boom measurements/specifications on Vapors?

Postby Mahi » Mon Jan 18, 2010 3:52 pm

Hi,

I have just bought a couple of 09 Vapors, and I am a little curious about how you measure the boom length?

Do you measure front side of the mast, in the middle of the boom opening to the back end of the sail, or to where the boom are to be fastened?

Thanks in advance

Best Regards

Magnus, Sweden.

from the clew to the front of the mast, in the middle of the opening. The boom lenght may vary a couple of cm depending the bomm height and your setting.

Enjoy your sails, they are terrific !

I HAVE ALSO SPEC. PROBLEMS ON VAPOR 2010

the 8,4 technora I use 2010 Gaastra 75 and 100% mast. Extension is Gaastra carbon. Base supposed to be 3cm.with 3 cm the pullies do touch and no loose leech,... so I put 7,5 cm gap between pullies 2 cm ish and just get some loose. but no space to put the pull strap on the bottom?!

Boom: as my X9 broke at the moment I use a 2010 Gaastra black line. Supposed to be 222cm. that gives me negative outhole. I am on 227 and just have a light pull on it till it touches? ok boom i use almost at top of opening!

cams rotate very hard? i have not tensioned the battens yet as was dealing with other stuff first.

simmilar stuff with the 7,5m

any advice? !!

i also have the gtx 2010 and rigging is here mega easy and digital. set to specs and perfect! cam rotation is automatic!!

cheers

Well, it helps a little bit Kevin.

I also have the 8.4m2 2010 Vapor. And of course, I also have to put the downhaul more than recommended, about 6-8cm.

One of the effects, is that the mast is curved a little bit more. Pushing the cams more on the mast. Because of that, I have some rotation problems with the 8.4m2.

First I thought it maybe had to do with the fact the sail is brand new and has to stretch a little bit. But after using it a couple of times, I still struggle with the cams.

I was thinking about taking some of the cam-material of, and spray the mast in with lubrication.

But still, there is the fact the sail needs (much) more downhaul than recommended. How comes? I know not every mast is the same, even if you take 10 masts out of the same batch. Also there are small differences in sails. But, where does this difference comes from between testing and developing + producing?

And what about masts? I have heared about the "carbon tech" masts, and that those are used in the Vapor sails as well. Can someone please explain me, if there are any differences with the Gaastra masts?

Thanks.

Well I think that Dan was measuring something wrong when he put in the numbers for the Vapor sails. All the sails are 2 to 4 cm more than what is stated on the sail. Maybe he had a cut down mast or something, cause normally his deminsions are spot on. I haven't tried any other masts on the 8.4 but on the 6.7 I tried the north and NP masts, and the Gaastra mast worked better on the Gaastra sail.

Try loosening the tension on the battens. This should help a bit.

Considering the toronto asian escort above mentioned, we can come to the conclusion that to give up wisely is a kind of more toronto escort mature life attitude. Though giving up toronto asian escorts sometimes is painful and costly,in the long run toronto escorts what we gain will definitely far out weight what we lose.
