Hey Gaastra-crew,

Isn't their any extra footage by now about the new Vapor slalomsails? I was wondering (and I guess many others to...) why we haven't seen anything, exept the new vapor-video on the main website, yet? Maybe I'm not patient enough, but... my only interest is the new 2010 vapor line and compared to other brands marketing is far behind!
I sail Gaastra Vapors for three seasons now, and I'm really stoked of all the good vapor lines ('07 - '08 - '09) that there have been. I'd like to compare with other brands, like maui sails that have their TR6 out for over two months now. Even the new Gun XS line has been compared on many different fora. Also Severne has managed their new Reflex concept out in the open and even exposed in each windsurfmagazine...

Can we at least have some extra comments from Ross, Arnan, Cedric, Finian,Kevin,..., about how it sails, compared to the previous one. People are waiting to test and read reports about the most innovated sail in years... Personnaly I want to make sure that I choose (again) the right quiver before spending all my money! So I guess it's a bit of a pitty we know all the other stuff around, and not our favorite ones... that are the new Gaastra Vapors 2010.

Thank you guys for understanding.

Kevin.

For what it is worth, I am the happy owner of some new 2010 Vapor sails also.

Not tested it with full power (but that will change tomorrow, with 30 knots wind), but these are my first impressions.

- rigging is very easy. The mast sleeve is a bit wider, also in the top. All the cambers are easy to put on the mast.
- there is enough room for the outhaul, to use the variabel outhaul. The 8.4m2 for instance needs 222 cm, you can length the boom easily up to 226/228 cm.
- the leach looks very nice. It looks like the sail "works" better in the top (difficult for me to put it in English). The topsection feels more stabil.
- camber rotation goes very smooth. I put a lot of batten tension on the lowest 3 battens, but still very good rotation.

it is one of the best sails I had in my hands the last years.

To all.

I agree, the sails are easy to rig, rotation is top. Good range, all the sizes feel pretty quick so far, I am quite happy for the moment with the under-powered pull and the over-powered speed. The team are all just beginning to learn the sails so I'm sure some thoughts and impressions will be written on this forum in the next month or so by various members. Patience. First impressions are positive but before any conclusions can be made, some races need to be competed in and some buoys need to be rounded.

Good sailing.

Thnx Finain for replying.

Wish all the guys great practice and races! For sure we'll heare steamy comments about those sails soon.

Best Regards

Kevin.

Ps: Patience is the hardest teaser ever, I believe for sure, as Marco quote, they are the best sails made the last few years!

Finian,
if this forum would have the possibility to send a personal message, I would have done that. But that's not possible.
So I go off-topic now,

How long do you stay in the South of France?
In the week of April the 5th, there is a open belgian speedcontest on the beach of Gruissan. Bjorn and Anders wil be there also.
I know the maximum compititors is reached, but it would be great to see some pro's with Gaastra also and to meet you.
